Scope and Contents

This artificial collection containing Anti-Catholic campaign material was compiled by faculty, staff and students of the College of St. Thomas during the 1960 presidential campaign. The collection includes anonymous "hate" mail and pamphlets and ephemeral literature focusing on the careers of Alfred Smith, Democratic Presidential candidate in 1928, and John F. Kennedy, plus reviews of anti-Catholic books, and doctrinal and controversial literature.

Scope and Contents The Holy Card Collection is an artificial collection of Roman Catholic devotional cards. The core of the collection was assembled from items found in books in the Archbishop Ireland Memorial Library (Saint Paul Seminary) collection. The items date from the late 19th through the 20th centuries and are in multiple languages. The collection consists of one scrapbook kept by Victor O'Malley during his attendance at the St. Thomas Military Academy.  The scrapbook includes photographs, newsclippings and other memorabilia which document student life at the academy during the  1918 - 1920 time period.
