Biographical or Historical Information

The St. Thomas Ladies Auxiliary was established in 1941 on the College of St. Thomas campus.  The membership of the group was open to the wives of faculty, staff, and administrators at the college.  In 1945, its membership was opened to include women who worked at the school.  The group was founded: 1) To foster friendship and social spirit among the women of the College of St. Thomas, 2) To serve as official hostesses for the social and academic activities of the college, 3) To promote one charitable project each year.

The group changed its name in 1964 to the St. Thomas Women's Auxiliary and again in 1981 to the St. Thomas Women's Association.  The organization sponsored several social events each year for its members.  It also organized the Children's Christmas Party on campus until the early 1980s and the President's Christmas Party for a number of years.  Interest in and membership in the group declined in the 1980s.  The group officially disbanded in 1993.
