Biographical or Historical Information

Father John P. Foley was born in Kildare, Prince Edward Island, Canada on August 8, 1877.  He graduated from St. Dunstan's University and taught in public schools for three years before entering the Saint Paul Seminary in 1902.  He was ordained on June 11, 1908 and was immediately placed on the College of St. Thomas faculty.  He served in almost every administrative position on campus over the next twenty years before being appointed President of the College in October 1927.  He occupied the position until September 1928 when the Holy Cross Fathers were contracted to run the College.  Fr. Foley was then assigned to the rectorship at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Faribault. He served as pastor there until his death in 1964.
