MS. Manuscript Collections

The Thomas Edward Shields papers consist of a typescript entitled "Daily Thoughts" dating from 1887.  The essay was written while Shields was a student at the St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary (a precusor to the College of St. Thomas).

The E. Arnold Spencer Papers consist of a handwritten memoir of his life.

An unattributed photograph album depicting the College of St. Thomas ca. 1915 - 1916.   The album includes images of student life, buildings and athletics.

The collection consists of two photograph albums from 1939 – 1957 documenting life at the Saint Paul Seminary and College of St. Thomas as well as the travels of Msgr. Robert Probst.  It also includes notes used for a History of Film course and a typescript of an article on the artist Giotto.

The Christopher Dawson papers include manuscripts of his publications, correspondence with colleagues and publishers, and Dawson's extensive library of works on philosophy, theology, Christian education, the history of religion, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.

This collection includes one blank book entitled "Record of My College Days." The volume documents Bill Manning's time at the College of St. Thomas, 1931 - 1932.

The collection contains the correspondence, writings and lectures of Christina Dawson Scott, the daughter of Christopher Dawson.  Additionally, it contains materials relating to the management by Mrs. Scott of the literary rights of Christopher Dawson’s works.

The Catholic Pamphlets Collection is an artificial collection of published pamphlets on a variety of topics related to the Roman Catholic Church.  The bulk of the collection dates from the period of the 1930s through 1950s but some material dates through the 1980s.
