The Ryan Family Papers include sermons, lectures, and recordings of radio broadcasts by prominent social justice scholar and reformer Msgr. John A. Ryan (1869-1945), author of A Living Wage. The collection also includes biographical documents and sermon notes by his brother Msgr. Lawrence F. Ryan (1880-1974), pastor at the Cathedral of St. Paul from 1910-1940.

The core of the collection was assembled from items found in books in the Archbishop Ireland Memorial Library (Saint Paul Seminary) collection.
