Biographical or Historical Information

Vincent Rush was born in Chicago, May 4, 1928.  He graduated from DePaul University Academy before earning his bachelors and master’s degrees (1956) from the Saint Paul Seminary.  He was awarded a Ph.D. in philosophy from the Aquinas Institute of Philosophy in 1962.

After his ordination to the priesthood, Fr. Rush served in in the Superior, WI, diocese as a pastor and as principal of Superior Cathedral High School.  In 1967 he joined the faculty of the College of St. Thomas as a professor of theology and philosophy.  A popular teacher, he was voted “best teacher of the year” by his students on four occasions.  In addition to his teaching duties, Fr. Rush served at several local parishes and hosted the television program “Church Beat” on TPT, a local public television station.

He retired from teaching in 1986 because of health issues.  He was laicized in 1988 and was married that same year to Debby Baumgartner.  He died on December 2, 2005, in Saint Paul, MN.
