Scope and Contents

The Ryan Family Papers include sermons, lectures, and recordings of radio broadcasts by prominent social justice scholar and reformer Msgr. John A. Ryan (1869-1945), author of A Living Wage. The collection also includes biographical documents and sermon notes by his brother Msgr. Lawrence F. Ryan (1880-1974), pastor at the Cathedral of St. Paul from 1910-1940.

Method of Acquisition

The papers were received from Rev. David R. Ryan, OSA through the Saint Paul Seminary in 2014.  The recordings were received from the family of John A. Ryan through the Center for Catholic Studies in 2010.

Processing Information

The collection was processed by Shannon Scott, July 2010. Additions to the collection were processed in November 2014.
