Biographical or Historical Information
Julie H. Sullivan was named the 15th President of the University of St. Thomas on February 14, 2013. Sullivan was the first woman and first lay person to hold this title in St. Thomas history, serving as president from 2013 – 2022. During her tenure the Dougherty Family College was established as was the Morrison Family College of Health and the School of Nursing. She also oversaw the transition of the school’s athletic programs from NCAA Division III to Division I.
Sullivan attended the University of Florida where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting, a M.A. in Taxation and a Ph.D. in business. She taught at the University of Oklahoma and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill before moving the University of San Diego (USD) where she served as professor and later as the Executive Vice President and Provost.
