Biographical or Historical Information

William Cunningham served as the Dean of Studies at the College of St. Thomas from 1928 through 1933.  A member of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, he received degrees at the University of Notre Dame and the Catholic University.  He served as professor of philosophy and administrator at Columbia University in Oregon and as director of the school of education at Notre Dame before coming to St. Thomas. During his tenure, Cunningham sought to strengthen the academic program at the college, thus maintaining the school’s accreditation by the North Central Association.
