Biographical or Historical Information
The Office of International Student Services (OISS) was established in 1986 as a part of the International Education Department. Prior to the establishment of this office the needs of international students were the responsibility of the Minority Affairs office.
The role of this department is to provide guidance to international students and scholars on immigration matters and assist with their adjustment in the U.S. including academic, personal, financial and cultural matters. The name of this department was changed in 2016 to the Office of International Students and Scholars.
