Biographical or Historical Information

Guy Whittier Chadbourn Ross was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota, on Oct 12, 1880.  He attended the University of Chicago (receiving his BA in 1901) and Harvard Law School (receiving his LLB in 1904).  He continued his studies at the University of Minnesota in Political Science earning his MA in 1935 and his Ph.D. in 1942.  Ross practiced law in Duluth and Minneapolis before becoming a Professor of Law in the College of St. Thomas Law School in 1926.  When the Law School closed in 1933, he became a member of the Political Science Department where he remained teaching until his retirement in 1951.  Ross received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the College of St. Thomas in 1957.  He died on March 28, 1965.
