Biographical or Historical Information

James H. Gallagan was born in New York State in 1883 and was educated at the University of Notre Dame.  After his ordination into the order of  the Holy Cross Fathers in 1910, he served as director of discipline at Notre Dame until 1922. From 1923 - 1928 he taught politics as an assistant professor at Notre Dame.

When the Holy Cross Fathers took over the administration of the College of St. Thomas in 1928, Gallagan was assigned to be the Director of Student Life for the college.  He served in this position until 1933 when the Archdiocese of St. Paul reassumed control over the college.  Fr. Gallagan died in 1950.
