Scope and Contents
This collection contains correspondence and subject files primarily from the years Murphy served as the president of the College/University of St. Thomas (1966 - 1991) and chancellor of the university (1991 – 2004). The files document Murphy’s role in many of the changes that St. Thomas underwent during his tenure, including the introduction of coeducation, the development of the Minneapolis campus, the expansion of graduate programs and the formation of the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities (ACTC). The files also document Murphy’s professional activities, including his membership in various organizations.
